Margot Ecke

Margot Ecke is a Professor of Foundation Studies at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and owner of Smokey Road Press. Her artistic practice integrates printmaking, book conservation, and letterpress techniques, with exhibitions nationally and internationally.

Education includes an M.F.A. in Printmaking from Rhode Island School of Design and B.F.A. in Fine Arts from Cornell University. Professional experience spans academic appointments at University of Georgia and Wells College, alongside roles as gallery director at OCAF and conservation work at Cornell University.

Research explores intersections between traditional print methods and contemporary book arts. Recent exhibitions include 'Mimic' at A Temporary Plan Art Space (2017) and 'Women of Print' at Helix Gallery (2017). Awards include prestigious residencies in Sweden and New York supporting innovative work in material preservation and typography.
