Margaret Shaffer is a Professor of Management and the Michael F. Price Chair in International Business at the University of Oklahoma’s Price College of Business. She specializes in global mobility, expatriation, and cross-cultural management, with a focus on work-family dynamics and career development. Shaffer holds a Ph.D. in Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior from the University of Texas at Arlington, alongside previous roles at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Hong Kong Baptist University. She is an associate editor for the Journal of Global Mobility and has led study abroad programs across Asia.
Her research emphasizes expatriate adjustment, repatriation challenges, and global career trajectories. Over 30 years, she has published extensively in top journals like Journal of International Business Studies and Academy of Management Journal. Awards include the Carolyn Dexter Best International Paper Award and multiple Gold Star Teaching Awards.
Shaffer’s work integrates empirical studies with practical implications for multinational organizations, addressing issues like expatriate retention, cultural intelligence, and the psychological impacts of global assignments.
