Margaret F. Quinn is an Associate Professor in the Department of Teaching, Learning and Culture at Texas A&M University. Her research focuses on early childhood education, teacher professional development, and culturally relevant pedagogy. She holds a Ph.D. in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Georgia State University (2017), an M.S. in Counseling and Therapeutic Communication from Ulster University (2009), and a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies from New York University (2006). Prior to academia, she taught in schools in Atlanta and Belfast, working with young children.
Her research explores two primary areas: supporting teachers' instructional practices in literacy and STEM, and assessing 21st-century skills through innovative measures. She leads projects like the CRRAFT Partnership, promoting computational thinking in early childhood, and the TexCS initiative, developing CS resources for educators. She also co-directs the Big Words Project, addressing multisyllabic word instruction in upper elementary grades.
Quinn has published widely on topics including early writing assessment, culturally responsive robotics, and teacher knowledge development. Her work emphasizes collaborative partnerships between universities, schools, and families to foster equitable educational opportunities.
