Margaret M. Quinlan

Margaret M. Quinlan is a Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNC Charlotte). She also serves as Director of the Health & Medical Humanities Program in Interdisciplinary Studies and is core faculty in the Interdisciplinary Health Psychology Ph.D. program. Her research focuses on the intersection of communication, medicine, science, and technology, particularly in the areas of health communication, reproductive health, and medical expertise. She co-authored the book *You're Doing it Wrong! Mothering, Media, and Medical Expertise* (2019), which examines historical and contemporary portrayals of mothering expertise. Dr. Quinlan has produced Emmy-winning documentaries, such as *Courage of Creativity*, and pioneered projects like the *1 in 8: Communicating (In)fertility* initiative, which addresses reproductive health communication through art and community engagement.
