Margaret L. Brandeau is the Coleman F. Fung Professor of Engineering at Stanford University's School of Engineering and holds a courtesy Professorship in Medicine at the Stanford University School of Medicine. Her research focuses on applying mathematical and economic models to inform health policy decisions, particularly in HIV/AIDS interventions, drug abuse prevention, and public health resource allocation.
Education: She earned a BS in Mathematics and MS in Operations Research from MIT, and a PhD in Engineering-Economic Systems from Stanford University.
Research Interests: Her work spans cost-effectiveness analysis of healthcare interventions (e.g., HIV testing programs, buprenorphine maintenance), bioterrorism preparedness, hepatitis B control, and optimizing healthcare policies. She has co-edited influential books such as Operations Research and Health Care: A Handbook of Methods and Applications and contributed to NIDA-funded projects on drug abuse and HIV policy modeling.
