Marga Janse is a Lecturer at the Athena Institute within the Faculty of Science at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Her research focuses on vaccine development across human and veterinary fields, with a strong emphasis on One Health approaches to address zoonotic diseases like Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) and Chlamydia. She also investigates barriers in vaccine R&D timelines and innovations in veterinary intestinal health.
Her expertise spans topics such as cross-species vaccine utilization, intellectual property analysis in biotechnology, and antibiotic alternatives for zoonotic pathogens. Ancillary activities include serving as Director/Owner of Drogteropslagen since August 2018. She teaches courses on business management in health/life sciences and clinical development/trials.
Recent research highlights include collaborative European studies on RSV vaccine development, patent landscape analyses in veterinary health, and evaluations of key barriers in vaccine R&D, including during the Covid-19 pandemic. Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to good health and well-being.
