Marek Susdorf is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Arts, specializing in Music Studies, Sound Studies, and Posthumanism. His research interrogates colonial histories through sonic frameworks, particularly in Suriname's Dutch colonial context. He holds a PhD from Oslo University (2021) and advanced degrees from Gdańsk University (Slavistics) and Utrecht University (Gender Studies).
- Education: Gdańsk University (Slavistics), Utrecht University (RMA Gender Studies), PhD in Musicology (Oslo University)
His work bridges musicology with critical theory, examining how sound shaped colonial ideologies and their posthuman legacies. Recent publications analyze the Dutch Eurovision entry (2021) as a site of imperialist 'music-washing' and Suriname's sonic contributions to constructing 'human' categories. He co-created the 'Make Kin Not Babies!' exhibitat, exploring posthuman artistic practices. His writings on Björk's Biophilia connect feminist new materialism to music's material and conceptual potentials.
