Mare Ainsaar is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Social Policy at the University of Tartu’s Institute of Social Studies (since 2021). She has held academic roles since 1993, including Senior Research Fellow (2012–2020) and Head of the Social Policy Chair (2014–2017). Her work bridges academia and policy, including roles at the Estonian Government, the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research, and the Strategy Centre of Tallinn (2022–2024).
Education includes a PhD in Social Sciences (2004, University of Turku) focusing on migration motives. She has completed specialized training at the University of Essex, Central European University, and Oxford.
