Rein Murakas is a Lecturer in Methods of Social Analysis at the University of Tartu's Department of Sociology and Social Policy within the Faculty of Social Sciences. He has held various academic and administrative roles including Head of the Department of Sociology and Social Policy (2002–2007) and Director of the Estonian Social Sciences Data Archive. His research focuses on migration patterns, national identity, public health, and data archiving, with notable contributions to studies on Estonian youth migration and church growth dynamics.
