Sabina Trankmann (born March 26, 1970) is a thematic leader for labour market and social policy at the University of Tartu's Faculty of Social Sciences, specifically within the Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies since December 2020. She previously served as an Adviser at the Ministry of Social Affairs (2016-2020), trainer and consultant at the Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund (2009-2016), and development manager at M-Partner HR OÜ (1998-2009).
Trankmann holds a Master's Degree in Psychology from Tallinn University (1996), where her thesis focused on child speech development in the first two years of life and its connection with child-parent interaction. She furthered her education with studies in labour and health communication at Tallinn University (2017-2019) and numerous specialized training courses including legal psychology, psychological crisis intervention, health communication, and conflict management.
Her research interests center on social policy, labour market dynamics, mental health, disability studies, and child development. Trankmann's work demonstrates a strong connection between theoretical research and practical policy implementation, particularly in social services and healthcare systems. Her publications reveal expertise in disability assessment, mental health studies, refugee integration, and healthcare policy.
Current research projects include the "European Social Survey in Estonia" (2023-2025) where she serves as responsible executor, and the Ministry of Social Affairs project on "Identifying and assessing child abuse within the family and its impact on child protection work" (2025).
