Professor Marcus Tindall is a faculty member in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Reading, part of the School of Mathematical, Physical and Computational Sciences. He holds the position of Professor and leads the Mathematical Biology research group, the UK Quantitative Systems Pharmacology Network, and serves as Director of Outreach. His research focuses on mathematical modeling of biological systems, including lipid metabolism, cardiovascular cell biology, and quantitative systems pharmacology. He teaches modules in Mathematical Biology, Bioinformatics, and Pharmacological Modeling.
His research expertise spans ordinary/partial differential equations, agent-based modeling, and multi-scale systems analysis. Key funding sources include BBSRC, EPSRC, and the British Heart Foundation. He actively collaborates with academic and industrial partners to bridge computational models with experimental biology. Outreach activities include STEM ambassador roles and A-level student workshops.
Recent work emphasizes translational applications in drug development, metabolic disorders, and plant growth modeling. His interdisciplinary approach integrates computational methods with clinical and agricultural challenges, aiming to advance both theoretical understanding and practical solutions.
