Marcus Smolka is a Professor in the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Cornell University and serves as Associate Vice Provost for Research and Innovation. He leads the Smolka Lab, focusing on DNA damage signaling, genome maintenance, and replication stress. His work integrates proteomics, genetics, and biochemistry to study mechanisms of genome integrity and their links to cancer and reproduction. Smolka earned a Ph.D. from the State University of Campinas (Brazil) and completed postdoctoral training at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research. He has held positions at Cornell since 2008.
