Marcus Aldén is a Professor in the Department of Combustion Physics at Lund University, affiliated with the Lund Institute of Technology (LTH). He is a member of the LTH Profile Area: The Energy Transition and LU Profile Area: Light and Materials. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to affordable and clean energy.
Research focuses on advanced laser diagnostics in reactive flows, combustion physics, and nanoparticle formation. He leads major projects like COCALD (CO2-neutral energy conversion) and KAW Aladin (high-temperature laser diagnostics). He manages infrastructure including high-pressure combustion facilities and conventional laser systems.
Recent studies include droplet combustion dynamics, MILD combustion of methane-CO2 mixtures, and laser diagnostics for nanowire growth. He has supervised 47 works, including doctoral research on optical diagnostics and nanomaterial synthesis. Won the Tanasawa Award (2012) for contributions to combustion diagnostics.
Collaborates internationally on combustion modeling, emissions control, and laser-based measurement techniques. Active in both experimental and computational combustion research, with over 480 publications spanning articles, conference proceedings, and book chapters.
