Edouard Berrocal is a Senior Lecturer in Combustion Physics at Lund University's Faculty of Engineering (LTH). He is affiliated with three LTH profile areas: The Energy Transition, Photon Science and Technology, and Light and Materials. His research focuses on combustion diagnostics, laser-based imaging, and droplet dynamics with applications in energy systems and materials science.
He has led six research projects including the Horizon Europe-funded E-COOL initiative for electric motor cooling (2024-2028) and a Vinnova-backed project developing spectroscopic sensors for wastewater analysis. His infrastructure includes the Spray Laboratory for advanced optical diagnostics.
- Recipient of the 2019 Outstanding Paper Award for sensors innovation
- 2014 Young Researcher Award in Advanced Optical Technologies
- 2012 Tanasawa Award for collaborative research excellence
Berrocal's recent publications emphasize combustion mechanisms in aluminum droplets, laser microscopy advancements, and spray characterization. He supervises doctoral research in light transport modeling and collaborates internationally across multiple engineering disciplines.
