Marco Wilkinson is an Assistant Professor of Literature at the University of California San Diego, specializing in creative nonfiction, translation, and ecocriticism. His research explores intersections of environmental studies with narrative form, particularly in memoir and ecological writing. He holds fellowships from institutions including the Breadloaf Environmental Writers' Conference and Crosshatch Center for Art and Ecology.
Wilkinson's work appears in Kenyon Review, Seneca Review, and ASSAY: A Journal of Nonfiction Studies. His lyric memoir MADDER: A Memoir in Weeds (Coffee House Press) and translations of Franco-Uruguayan playwright Sergio Blanco demonstrate his commitment to innovative narrative forms. He teaches writing and sustainable agriculture at UCSD and Oberlin College.
Key areas of focus include phenomenological approaches to self-narration, queer ecocriticism, and the ethical dimensions of human-environment relationships. His recent essays interrogate how ecological crises reshape literary subjectivity and vice versa.
