Marco Severini is an Associate Professor of Contemporary Italian History and Women's History at the University of Macerata's Department of Humanistic Studies. He holds a PhD in Political Parties and Movements from the University of Urbino (1995-1998). His research focuses on political history, gender studies, and travel history, with a strong emphasis on public history initiatives. He has authored over 20 monographs and edited volumes, including works on Italian women's history, the Roman Republic of 1849, and resistance movements during WWII. Severini is the founder and chair of the Contemporary History Association (founded 2011), which has over 520 global members. He directs the journal Il materiale contemporaneo and leads a 15-year project on travel studies. His work has been translated into multiple languages and presented internationally.
