He is based in office US-G 209 and teaches courses such as Introduction to Business Didactics, Didactic Analysis of Selected Contents, Master's Seminar in Economics Didactics, and the Online Business Simulation Game. His academic work focuses on bridging formal and informal learning environments, particularly through digital simulations and games.
His research interests include:
- Implementation of curriculum reforms
- Project-oriented learning in economics education
- Business games, simulations, and digital games in classrooms
- Informal learning through commercial software
- Teaching in heterogeneous learning groups
- Design and evaluation of action-oriented learning environments
- Teacher typology and discrimination in school transitions
Dr. Rehm leads and contributes to significant research initiatives such as the ECOS (Economic Competencies Study) at the Centre for Economic Education in Siegen (ZöBiS), which investigates economic competence among 15–16-year-old students. His doctoral dissertation explored how commercial management and construction games influence economic knowledge and attitudes, concluding that while such games contain economic content, they often present it in a distorted way and have limited knowledge transfer to real-world contexts—though they may shape economic attitudes differently depending on game mechanics.
He is a member of the German Society for Economic Education and its Teacher Training Working Group, as well as the Action Group for the Social Market Economy.
Dr. Rehm advises students via appointment and processes credit applications on Mondays and Fridays. He is physically present at the university on Wednesdays and Thursdays due to external teaching commitments. He also conducts tutorials for the online business simulation game, currently held via Zoom at 4 p.m.
