- Social diversity programs in higher education
Oberti's recent publications (2020–2025) reveal a consistent focus on the interplay between spatial, educational, and social inequalities in France, particularly in the Paris metropolitan area. His work analyzes reforms in higher education admissions (e.g., at Sciences Po and Parcoursup), the role of private education in segregation, and the socio-territorial dimensions of urban unrest. He frequently uses comparative and interdisciplinary approaches, combining quantitative and qualitative data.
His scientific contributions include numerous articles in journals such as Revue française de sociologie, Éducation & formations, Urban Studies, and Population, as well as book chapters and research reports. He also contributes to public debates through editorials and media engagement.
Marco Oberti supervises PhD students such as Audrey Chamboredon and Lise Lecuyer and coordinates international doctoral collaborations with institutions including Northwestern University, UCLA, IESP-IUERJ (Rio de Janeiro), CEM (São Paulo), and Università Bicocca (Milan). He is involved in multiple funded research projects on housing, school choice, and admission reforms. He teaches courses on spatial analysis of inequalities, urban and school segregation, and urban lifestyles at both the Master’s and Bachelor’s levels.
He is a member of the Scientific Committee of the journal Éducation & formations and leads research teams within CRIS and LIEPP, often in collaboration with public institutions such as Paris Habitat and the City of Paris.
