Marco Moriggi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Humanities at the University of Catania, where he holds a position in Semitics - Ethiopian Languages and Literatures. He is actively engaged in teaching and research, with a focus on Semitic philology, Aramaic dialects, Syriac literature, and ancient Near Eastern epigraphy.

He is particularly interested in digital approaches to Semitic epigraphy and the application of computational tools in philological research.
Marco Moriggi has supervised numerous student theses on subjects such as the historical geography of Nineveh, Gurage dialects, Semitic magic, and digital philology. He has also mentored PhD graduates, including Dr. Giuseppe Petrantoni and Dr. Mara Nicosia. His international research collaborations include fellowships at Birkbeck (University of London) and the University of Exeter, as well as participation in the Virtual Magic Bowl Archive project.
He has received recognition through honorary research fellowships and serves on important academic committees, including the Advisory Board of the ERC EJCM project and ANVUR's evaluation panels. His service includes accreditation roles for Italian universities and peer review activities.
