Dr. Marco Lam is a Professor of Accountancy at the FORVIS School of Accountancy within the College of Business at Western Carolina University (WCU). He holds a PhD in Operations Management from the University of Alabama and a Master of Science in Management Science from the same institution. Additionally, he earned an MAcc in Accounting from WCU and a BSED in Business Economics from Hogeschool van Utrecht in the Netherlands. His research focuses on Judgment and Decision Making and Earnings Management, with over 30 peer-reviewed publications in journals such as Financial Reporting, Managerial Finance, and Advances in Accounting Behavioral Research.

Dr. Lam’s research explores areas such as earnings management, financial statement analysis, and decision-making processes in accounting contexts. He has received two Best Case Award recognitions in the Carl Menconi Case Writing Competition. Beyond his primary role, he has served as a Visiting Professor at institutions in Germany, the Netherlands, China, France, and as an invited lecturer in Mexico. His teaching interests include Managerial Accounting, Financial Accounting, and Financial Statement Analysis.
His academic contributions span international collaborations and applied research, with a focus on bridging theoretical frameworks and practical accounting challenges.
