Ben Lansford is a Professor of the Practice in Accounting and Director of the Master of Accounting (MAcc) program at Rice University's Jones Graduate School of Business. He joined Rice in 2014 and teaches courses in financial accounting, managerial accounting, financial statement analysis, and auditing across MBA, MAcc, and undergraduate programs. Prior to Rice, he served on the faculty at The Pennsylvania State University’s Smeal College of Business and Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
Dr. Lansford holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Penn State, an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from the University of South Carolina. Before academia, he worked in financial accounting for a Fluor Corporation subsidiary and is a Certified Public Accountant (Georgia).
His research and teaching focus on applied accounting practices, professional development in accounting education, and bridging theoretical concepts with real-world financial analysis. He leads the MAcc program, emphasizing practical skills for future accounting professionals.
