Marco Cortesi serves as a Lecturer at the Center for Human Resource Management within the Faculty of Economics and Management at the University of Lucerne. His academic role builds upon a distinguished 29-year career with the Zurich City Police, where he gained national prominence as a press officer and public face of the department through extensive media engagement across television and radio platforms.
His research and teaching expertise centers on practical applications of communication in high-stakes environments, with primary focus areas including Human Resource Management, Crisis Communication, and Media Relations. Cortesi specializes in translating real-world policing experience into organizational communication frameworks, emphasizing diplomatic messaging strategies for complex security scenarios and stakeholder management in public institutions.
Following his retirement from the Zurich City Police in January 2021 upon reaching age 65, Cortesi established his communications consultancy Cortesi Kommunikation (www.cortesi-kommunikation.ch). He now integrates this professional practice with his academic position, delivering specialized instruction through university lectures, industry seminars, and continuing education programs that bridge theoretical HR management with frontline crisis response protocols.
