Marco Capra is an Associate Professor in the Department of Humanities, Social Sciences and Cultural Enterprises at the University of Parma. His scholarly work focuses on musicology, the history of Italian musical criticism, and the reception of Italian music from the 18th to the 20th century. He teaches courses in History of Modern and Contemporary Music and History of Music Theatre.

Marco Capra's research spans material history of music institutions, systems of music criticism, theatrical production, and the legacy of Italian composers like Verdi, Toscanini, and Puccini. He has curated multimedia projects such as the 'L'opera on stage' museum and 'Casa del Suono', focusing on music and technology.
His recent publications address Arturo Toscanini's early career, Verdi's operatic aesthetics, and medieval music traces in historical chronicles. He has led national research projects like the PRIN 2005 'Database of music criticism in Italy' and organized international conferences on Toscanini and Verdi.
