Prof. Marcin Wodziński is a Professor of Jewish History and Literature and Head of the Department of Jewish Studies at the University of Wrocław. His research focuses on 19th-century Jewish social history, Silesian Jewish history, and Jewish material culture. He has authored seminal works such as Historical Atlas of Hasidism and edited major series like Bibliotheca Judaica. His academic contributions include over 20 books and numerous articles, spanning topics from Hasidic politics to Jewish epigraphy.
Wodziński has held prestigious roles, including membership in the Academia Europaea and the Polish Academy of Sciences. He was chief historical consultant for the Museum of the History of Polish Jews and has received awards such as the Irena Sendlerowa Memorial Award (2023) and the Polish Minister of Science Award (2019). His work bridges scholarship, public history, and academic leadership, reflecting a commitment to preserving Jewish heritage and advancing interdisciplinary research.
He advises PhD candidates and oversees projects like the Jews.Poland.Autobiography initiative. His research has been supported by grants from institutions including the National Endowment for the Humanities and the National Program for the Development of Humanities.
