Marcin Tomczak

Prof. Marcin Tomczak is a Full Professor and conductor at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk, specializing in choral conducting and artistic direction. He held leadership roles including Vice-Dean of the Choral Conducting Faculty (1999–2005), Vice-Rector for Artistic Affairs (2005–2012), and Department Head (2005–2008, 2012–2016). A member of the Academy Senate and its Artistic/Budget Committees, he also lectures at Bydgoszcz’s Feliks Nowowiejski Academy.

• Artistic Director & Conductor of Gdańsk Academic Choir since 1992.
• Toured globally with the choir, performing in 20+ countries including South Korea, USA, and across Europe.
• Jury member for international festivals in Greece, Italy, Lithuania, and others.
• Founder and Artistic Director of the Mundus Cantat Sopot Festival since 2007.

Recipient of prestigious awards including the Grand Prix at Vienna’s Schubert Festival (2000), multiple international choir competition victories, and Poland’s Gloria Artis Medal (Bronze).

Advocates for choral music’s cultural role, emphasizing artistic excellence and cross-border collaboration through festivals and educational initiatives.
