Marcin Murawski

Marcin Murawski is a full professor at the I.J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznan, Poland, where he serves as professor of viola and the Rector's Plenipotentiary for International Cooperation. He is employed at the Faculty of Instrumental Studies, Jazz and Popular Music, specifically within the Institute of String Instruments. Murawski has established an international reputation as a violist, educator, and recording artist with over 30 CD and DVD albums to his name.

Murawski's research interests center around music performance, particularly viola repertoire, chamber music, and artistic interpretation. His work spans diverse musical periods from Baroque to contemporary compositions, with special focus on Polish music, international collaborations, and the viola d'amore. He has performed extensively worldwide, including prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall, and has been featured at major international viola congresses in New Zealand, Norway, and the Netherlands.

Murawski's artistic output shows a remarkable breadth across musical eras and styles, with recent recordings focusing on contemporary compositions, Romantic era works, and Baroque masterpieces. His collaborations with composers like Michael Kimber and his dedication to recording lesser-known repertoire demonstrate his commitment to expanding the viola literature. His work with the viola d'amore represents significant scholarly and performance research in historical instruments.

He has conducted masterclasses at prestigious institutions worldwide, including in Iceland, Ireland, Latvia, Norway, Estonia, Ukraine, Georgia, Russia, Austria, Romania, China, the United States, and New Zealand.

His artistic work is centered around his performance career as a soloist and chamber musician, with extensive international touring. He has collaborated with major orchestras including the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra of Polish Radio, Koszalin Philharmonic Orchestra, and Sinfonietta Polonia.
