Marcelo Diversi is a Professor of Human Development at Washington State University (WSU), affiliated with the College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS). He has been a faculty member since 2006, focusing on decolonizing epistemologies, social justice, and narratives of Us versus Them. His research critiques colonialist ideologies in knowledge production and advocates for inclusive, equitable frameworks.
Education includes a PhD in Human and Community Development (University of Illinois, 1998), a Master’s in Sports Psychology (Urbana-Champaign, 1993), and a B.A. in Education/Physical Education (Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Brazil, 1989).
Research interests emphasize ethnography, autoethnography, and marginalized communities. Key works include *Betweener autoethnographies* (Routledge, 2018) and *Betweener talk* (2009), both award-winning. His articles explore topics like racial discrimination, neoliberalism critiques, and cultural adaptations of social programs.
Awards include the National Communication Association’s 2010 Book of the Year Award and 2012 Best Journal Article Award. He collaborates widely, editing special journal issues and mentoring graduate students. His teaching spans courses like HD 101 (Introduction to Human Development) and HD 307 (Adolescence and Emerging Adulthood).
