Katie Forsythe is a Scholarly Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Development at Washington State University (WSU), located in Pullman. She coordinates the undergraduate internship requirement for the department and has been instrumental in student success initiatives, such as directing the system-wide Transformational Change Initiative. Her teaching style emphasizes collaboration, critical thinking, and experiential learning, as highlighted by student evaluations praising her engaging discussions and practical applications of course material.
She serves as President of the WSU Association for Faculty Women during its 50th anniversary year and leads the LAUNCH program and LIFT Faculty Fellowship. Prior to WSU, Forsythe worked at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, where she contributed to curriculum improvements, managed guest speaker series, and advocated for diversity in educational materials. Her focus areas include professional preparation, community partnerships, and fostering inclusive academic environments.
Forsythe teaches courses such as HD 200 (Introduction to Human Development), HD 497 (Professional Preparation Seminar), HD 498 (Internship in Human Development), and HD 499 (Special Problems). Her work integrates theory with real-world application, emphasizing hands-on learning opportunities for students.
