Katie Coleman

Katie Coleman serves as a Lecturer II at the University of Michigan's English Language Institute (ELI) in Ann Arbor, where she has taught academic communication courses to graduate students, undergraduate students, and international scholars since 2015.

Her educational background includes:

• BA in Psychology from Penn State University
• BS in French from Penn State University
• MA in TESOL from Eastern Michigan University (2012)

Her professional focus centers on TESOL and English for Academic Purposes, with specialized expertise in developing immersive XR/VR instructional materials for language learning. She actively explores intersections between educational technology and language pedagogy, particularly in academic writing, research communication, and intercultural competence development for international scholars.

At the ELI, Coleman leads CAI grant-funded initiatives for XR/VR EAP materials development and coordinates the "Summer in Michigan" program. She serves on the ELI curriculum committee and holds leadership roles in professional organizations as Submissions Editor for the MITESOL Journal.
