Becky Kato

Becky Kato is a Lecturer at the English Language Institute (ELI) within the University of Michigan's College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. Since 2019, she has supported multilingual learners in oral and written communication, focusing on academic listening, speaking, pronunciation, and teacher development. She also teaches English for Specific Purposes at Taubman College of Architecture and provides individual consultations through the Architecture Clinic.

Her research emphasizes identity in language education, language variation, and virtual exchange as a pedagogical tool. Prior to joining the University of Michigan, she taught at the University of British Columbia, Temple University in Japan, and the University of Nagoya, where she developed language courses for international students and immigrants.
