Marcel Jahn is a Research Fellow at Stockholm University's Department of Philosophy and a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Stockholm Center on Global Governance. His work bridges philosophy and the social sciences, focusing on meta-ethics, normative models, and conceptual foundations of political science. Previously, he completed his PhD in Philosophy at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (2020-2024), supported by the Elsa-Neumann-Stipendium, following studies in Philosophy and Economics at Bayreuth, Berkeley, and Berlin.
Key research areas include normative models' success conditions, conceptual analysis in international relations, and valuing theories in ethics. His interdisciplinary approach addresses how conceptual clarity in political science enhances both theoretical and normative inquiry. He has presented work at major conferences including the German Congress of Philosophy and the American Political Science Association.
Teaching experience includes courses on ethics, political philosophy, and research methods at Humboldt-Universität and the University of Bayreuth. His current project explores practical reasons, ought-statements, and latitude in normative frameworks.
Notable awards include the Elsa-Neumann-Stipendium from Berlin's state government. His publications span journals like Philosophy of the Social Sciences, Synthese, and International Theory, addressing topics ranging from disjunction elimination in logic to global commons theory in security studies.
