Marc Witte is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and a Research Fellow at IZA Bonn. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Oxford. His research focuses on labor economics, development economics, and the economics of networks. Previously, he was a Postdoctoral Associate at NYU Abu Dhabi and a Research Associate at IZA Bonn. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to poverty reduction and economic prosperity.
Education: PhD in Economics (2019), University of Oxford, Department of Economics and Centre for the Study of African Economies.
Research interests include labor market dynamics, mental health interventions in low-income countries, firm behavior, and pandemic impacts on labor. He collaborates internationally on studies involving Ethiopia, Ghana, and global behavioral responses to crises. Courses taught include Development Economics, International Trade, and Mathematical Economics.
Recent articles explore job search behavior, mental health policy effects, and labor market outcomes in developing economies. His work is widely cited in policy sources and academic networks, reflecting contributions to both theoretical and applied economics.
