Marc Stears

Professor Marc Stears is a political theorist and academic leader at the University of Sydney, where he holds a professorial position within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. He is affiliated with the Sydney Environment Institute and the Brain and Mind Centre. Prior to joining Sydney in 2018, he served as Professor of Political Theory at the University of Oxford and as Chief Executive of the New Economics Foundation, a UK think tank focused on community-driven policy solutions. His career also includes roles as Chief Speechwriter for the UK Labour Party (2012–2015) and advisor to commercial/nonprofit organizations like Channel 4 and GlaxoSmithKline.
