Marc Redfield holds the Florence Pirce Grant University Professorship in English and Comparative Literature at Brown University, with additional appointments in German Studies. He previously taught at the Université de Genève and Claremont Graduate University. His work bridges literature and philosophy across British, American, French, and German traditions, with a focus on Romanticism and interdisciplinary studies.
Education: Studied at Yale and Cornell universities. Research interests include literary theory, aesthetics, and the intersections of literature with philosophy. Major awards include the MLA First Book Prize for Phantom Formations.
Editorial contributions include special issues of Diacritics, Romantic Praxis, and The Wordsworth Circle. His edited volumes include Legacies of Paul de Man and co-edited collections on cultural studies and critical theory.
