Marc Manack is an Associate Professor and Undergraduate Program Director in the Ravin School of Architecture at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNC Charlotte). He is also the founding principal of SILO AR+D, an architecture and design practice recognized nationally and internationally. His work has been featured in exhibitions, publications, and awards, including the 2016 Architectural League of New York’s Emerging Voice Award and the 2021 Architect’s Newspaper AN Interior Top 50 recognition.
Manack holds a professional degree from Ohio State University’s Austin E. Knowlton School of Architecture. His research explores design processes, project delivery systems, and the evolving organizational structures of architectural practice, particularly in response to cultural and technological shifts.
Notable projects include the Steel Louise house (2023 Matsumoto Prize winner), the People’s Porch community hub (2024 Phil Freelon Award recipient), and the Tiny Tinny ADU prototype for Charlotte Shout! 2024. These projects reflect his focus on urban transformation, community activism, and low-cost design innovation.
