Marc Loth is a Professor at Tilburg Law School, specializing in judicial lawmaking, environmental law, and public interest litigation. He teaches courses including 'Introduction to Private Law,' 'Tort Law,' and 'Judicial Lawmaking' at undergraduate and graduate levels. His research focuses on the evolving role of judges in addressing societal risks, particularly in landmark cases like the Urgenda climate litigation. He explores interactions between national courts and international bodies such as the European Court of Justice.
Key research themes include intergenerational legal accountability, judicial responses to climate change, and the ethical dimensions of mass tort compensation. He has supervised four doctoral candidates, including Harm Borgers, Elaine Mak, and Arie-Jan Kwak at Erasmus University Rotterdam.
