Marc Gomes serves as Associate Professor of Theatre and Dance at Ithaca College's School of Music, Theatre, and Dance, where he teaches acting and directs Center for Theatre and Dance main stage productions since joining in Fall 2018. His directorial credits include House of Desires, The Language Archive, X, and Stupid F&%$ing Bird.
His artistic practice spans performance pedagogy and socially engaged theatre:
- Specialization in acting training methodologies and performance techniques
- Development of multimedia theatrical works through Third Space Performance Lab
- Application of theatre for social transformation with marginalized communities
- Exploration of cross-cultural narratives in contemporary performance
He received the Distinguished Guyanese-American Award from Guyana's Consul General to the United States.
Gomes co-directs Third Space Performance Lab with Shanti Pillai, creating works presented at UC Berkeley, Brown University, and GATI Institute in Delhi. Since 1996, he has served as teaching-artist and director for The Unusual Suspects Theater Company, using theater-making to foster self-confidence and cultural tolerance among incarcerated youth in Los Angeles. His professional acting career includes television series Criminal Minds, Dexter, and Goliath, plus film work and stage productions across North America.
