Courtney Young Socher serves as Associate Professor of Theatre and Dance Performance at Ithaca College's School of Music, Theatre, and Dance. She concurrently leads as founder and Producing Artistic Director of the Finger Lakes New Works Festival, which connects Ithaca-based artists with national industry professionals to establish the region as a developmental theater hub through collaborative innovation and expanded access.
Her artistic research centers on theater direction and dance choreography with dedicated focus on new play development. She champions accessibility in performance spaces, actively supports neurodiverse artists, and amplifies women's narratives—all unified by her mission to foster authentic human connection through embodied storytelling.
With over three decades of professional experience, Socher's directing portfolio spans The National Opera (Kennedy Center), Casa Mañana, Paper Mill Playhouse, and New York City Center (Encores!). She has directed academic productions at Ithaca College and Penn State, building on her foundational career as a Broadway performer in The Producers, Young Frankenstein, and the Radio City Rockettes.
