Marc D. Holmes, Ph.D., CI/CT/NIC, SC:L, CoreCHI Master Mentor, holds the position of Staff Interpreter (Emergency Overnight Program) at Gallaudet University's Interpreting Services. In addition to his primary role, he has served as an adjunct professor for over 20 years, specializing in interpreting pedagogy. His academic credentials include a Doctorate of Philosophy in Interpretation (2022), a Master of Education in Interpreting Pedagogy from Northeastern University, and a Master Mentor Certificate from Northeastern University's Project.Tiem.
His expertise spans post-secondary, medical, mental health, legal, and theatrical interpreting. He has contributed to professional organizations such as the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), serving on the Potomac Chapter Board and Pennsylvania RID, and participated in roles like webmaster for RID Region I's 2006 conference. He remains actively involved in interpreting advocacy and education through RID, Conference of Interpreter Trainers, and the American Sign Language Teachers’ Association.
Marc’s professional contributions extend to mentoring within the field and maintaining certifications such as coreCHI and NIC. He is married to Melanie, also an RID-certified interpreter, and they are the proud parents of a recent college graduate, Noah.
