Marc Bourreau is a Full Professor of Economics at Télécom Paris (Institut Polytechnique de Paris) and Director of the Innovation & Regulation Chair. He is an academic co-director of the Centre for Studies on Regulation in Europe (CERRE) and affiliated with the Centre for Research in Economics and Statistics (CREST). He also teaches at École Polytechnique and Sciences Po. His research focuses on industrial organization, digital economics, competition policy, and telecommunications regulation.
Education: Engineer from Télécom Paris (1992), PhD in Economics from University of Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas (1999), and Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches from University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (2003).
Research interests include digital platforms, telecom market regulation, and licensing of standard essential patents. His work has been published in leading journals like the American Economic Review, European Economic Review, and Journal of Industrial Economics. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of Information Economics & Policy and on the editorial boards of Telecommunications Policy and Review of Network Economics.
Awards: Winner of the AFSE 2023 prize for best economics book (category Manuel) for 'Economie des plateformes'.
Key contributions include studies on net neutrality, telecom market competition, and the impact of digitization on cultural industries. He has authored/co-authored over 100 publications and contributes to policy debates on digital regulation and innovation.
