Marc Bourreau is a Full Professor of Economics at Telecom Paris (Institut Polytechnique de Paris) and Director of the Innovation & Regulation Chair. He also serves as an academic co-director of the Centre on Regulation in Europe (CERRE) and a member of DGComp's Economic Advisory Group on Competition Policy at the European Commission. His research focuses on industrial organization, digital economics, competition policy, and telecommunications regulation. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas (1999) and a Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (2003).
His current research explores digital platforms, competition policy's impact on telecommunications markets, and licensing of standard essential patents. He has authored/co-authored influential books like 'Repères Économie des Plateformes' (2022), which won the AFSE 2023 award. He serves on editorial boards of journals like Information Economics & Policy and has held roles at France Telecom/Orange (1997–2000).
Recent articles focus on regulatory frameworks for digital markets, patent licensing, and fiber deployment strategies. Awards include the CESifo Research Fellowship and the AFSE 2023 prize. Bourreau collaborates with institutions like the European University Institute's Centre for Digital Society and CEPREMAP.
