MICHELANGELLO ROSSI is an Assistant Professor of Digital Economics at Télécom Paris (Institut Polytechnique de Paris), affiliated with the Center for Research in Economics and Statistics (CREST) and the Economics and Social Sciences (SES) Department. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (2020) and visited the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto during his doctoral studies. His research integrates theoretical and empirical approaches to study digitization, focusing on reputation systems, competition dynamics, and consumer behavior in digital markets.
Research interests include the impact of competition on seller reputation incentives, rating systems' efficacy, and platform policies. He co-organizes the Paris Seminar on Economic Digitalization and is actively involved in teaching digital economics. Recent work received recognition for analyzing Airbnb's rating system, demonstrating how competition levels affect host behavior and ratings, awarded by the Competition and Regulation Summer School and Conference (CRESSE) and the Computer & Communications Industry Association (CCIA).
His publications explore transparency in peer-to-peer platforms, consumer heterogeneity in rating reversals, regulatory impacts of Digital Markets Act, and discrimination in online markets. Current projects aim to expand research on digital platforms and intra-platform competition, with plans to publish findings in leading academic journals.
