Marc A Hillmyer

Marc A Hillmyer is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Minnesota and Director of the Center for Sustainable Polymers. He holds the McKnight Presidential Endowed Chair and serves as Editor-in-Chief of ACS Publications, Macromolecules.

Research Focus: The Hillmyer Research Group specializes in designing advanced macromolecular materials, emphasizing sustainable polymers from renewable resources and hybrid macromolecular structures. Their work combines controlled polymerization techniques with detailed property characterization to advance polymer science and develop eco-friendly technologies.

Recent Publications highlight innovations in biodegradable plastics, polymer recycling, and PFAS remediation. His projects frequently collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and external institutions, supported by grants from the NSF, DoD, and industry partners.
