Dr. Maozhou Meng is a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Plymouth, affiliated with the School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics. He specializes in composite materials, mechanical systems, and marine engineering applications. His teaching includes Computer Aided Engineering and Composites Engineering, alongside supervising student projects such as Graphene-based sensors and Marine propeller manufacturing.
His research focuses on composite materials' behavior under environmental stresses, renewable energy systems (e.g., wave energy converters), and sustainable manufacturing techniques like in situ polymerization and monomer infusion. He has contributed to studies on hygrothermal aging effects, marine environmental impacts on adhesives, and biocomposite lifecycle assessments.
Key research areas include material degradation mechanisms, structural analysis of composites, and optimizing manufacturing processes for marine and aerospace applications. His work aligns with global sustainability goals (e.g., SDG 14 for oceans).
