Rasheedat Mahamood

Dr. Rasheedat Mahamood is an Assistant Professor in Mechanical and Construction Engineering at Northumbria University (joined November 2023 as a Vice Chancellor Fellow). Previously, she was an Associate Professor at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria, and holds a visiting Senior Research Associate position at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. Her research focuses on advanced manufacturing, additive manufacturing (e.g., 3D Printing), laser and friction stir welding technologies, advanced composite materials, and renewable energy. She holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Johannesburg (2014).

Education: PhD (Mechanical Engineering, University of Johannesburg, 2014), MEng (Mechanical Engineering, University of Ilorin, 2006), BEng (Hons) (Mechanical Engineering, Federal University of Technology Minna, 1998).

Research Interests: Advanced manufacturing processes, additive manufacturing, laser and friction stir welding, biocomposites, aerospace materials, and renewable energy solutions. Over 100 publications including books, journal articles, and conference papers. Editor of the Nigeria Journal of Technological Development and a peer reviewer for high-impact journals.

Awards: Schlumberger Faculty for the Future Fellowship (2012), L’Oreal UNESCO Women in Science Postdoctoral Fellowship (2015), University of Johannesburg Research Excellence Award (2018), and multiple best paper awards.
