Manvitha Singamsetty is a Contract Instructor at Carleton University’s Department of Religion, part of the College of the Humanities. She is also a PhD candidate in Philosophy at the University of Ottawa. Her academic journey includes degrees from Delhi University (B.A., M.A., M.Phil) and a Diploma in Japanese Studies from Soka University.
Her research focuses on liberal multiculturalism, advocating Gandhi’s principles of non-violence and satyagraha for public spaces in democratic societies. She also explores classical Indian philosophy, social/political philosophy, and environmental ethics. With over 14 years in diversity and inclusion (D&I), she has managed projects, developed curricula, and facilitated workshops on anti-racism, leadership, and community engagement across 9 countries.
Her publications span philosophy reviews, cultural identity studies, and yoga tourism. Notable works include a co-authored study on Canadian religious identity (2017) and an analysis of yoga travel’s spiritual dimensions (2016). She initiated a philosophy journal during her early career (2008).
