Erica Lord is a multimedia artist and Lecturer at the Institute of American Indian Arts. She is known for her interdisciplinary work exploring Indigenous identity, health disparities, and cultural representation through art. Her current exhibit, *The Codes We Carry: Beads as DNA Data*, transforms genetic data into beaded sculptures to highlight institutionalized health inequities affecting Indigenous communities. Lord’s cultural background includes Athabaskan, Iñupiat, Finnish, Swedish, Japanese, and English heritage, influencing her art’s focus on migration and multicultural identity.
Her affiliation with Washington and Lee University (W&L) includes speaking engagements such as the Mudd Center for Ethics’ lecture series on *How We Live & Die* (Jan. 14, 2025). This collaboration emphasizes ethical themes like medical justice and data sovereignty. Lord has exhibited globally at institutions like the Smithsonian and National Gallery of Canada.
