Robert D. Straughan is the Crawford Family Dean of the Williams School of Commerce, Economics, and Politics at Washington and Lee University (W&L) and holds the academic rank of Professor of Business Administration. He joined the Williams School faculty in 2000, previously teaching at Baylor University and the University of Houston. His administrative roles include serving as associate dean for 12 years before becoming dean in 2015. He has been instrumental in AACSB and SACS accreditation processes, facility upgrades like the renovation of Holekamp Hall, and curricular initiatives.

His teaching emphasizes integrating business strategy with liberal arts principles, and he advises students pursuing careers in consulting and socially responsible business.
In addition to academic leadership, Dean Straughan has served as an external reviewer for business programs at other institutions and collaborates on international study abroad initiatives.
