معرفی
Dr. Manuela Jorg is a Senior Lecturer in Medicinal Chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Monash University. Her research focuses on drug design targeting G protein-coupled receptors, particularly adenosine and dopamine receptors, with applications in neurological disorders and infectious diseases.
Her research interests span multiple specialized areas:
- Adenosine A2A Receptor pharmacology and drug design
- Dopamine D2 Receptor modulation
- Muscarinic M1 Receptor targeting
- Development of dual-acting and bivalent ligands
- Allosteric modulator design
- Environmentally sustainable pharmaceutical development
Dr. Jorg's recent publications demonstrate a multidisciplinary approach spanning receptor pharmacology, innovative chemical methodologies like click chemistry, and applications in neurocognitive disorders and infectious disease. Her work on G protein-coupled receptor modulation has significant therapeutic implications for Parkinson's disease, cognitive disorders, and tuberculosis treatment.
Her scientific contributions have been recognized with multiple prestigious awards:
- CASS Foundation Travel Award (2018)
- Honourable Geoffrey Connard AM Early Career Research Travelling Award (2017)
- Merck Innovation Cup Award (2016)
- Monash University Post-Graduate Publication Award (2014)
- CTx Post-Graduate Student Travel Award (2012)
Dr. Jorg has secured research funding including the ARC project 'The Synthesis and Pharmacological Evaluation of Novel Bivalent Dopamine D2 and Adenosine A2A Ligands for the Treatment of Parkinson's Disease' (2010-2013), collaborating with industry partner GlaxoSmithKline Singapore. Her work contributes significantly to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and environmental sustainability, with 33 documented research outputs showing consistent productivity from 2010 to present.
