Manuel Moreira da Silva

Manuel Moreira da Silva serves as President of ISCAP (Porto Accounting and Business School) and Senior Lecturer in Languages at the Polytechnic Institute of Porto. He represents ISCAP at the Centre of Competence in Virtual and Augmented Reality (CCRVA) and leads ReCLes.pt, Portugal's national network of language centers. His institutional roles include membership on the Polytechnic Institute of Porto's Strategic Research Council.

He holds a PhD in Linguistics from Universidade Nova de Lisboa's Faculty of Social and Human Sciences (FCSH/UNL), with 25+ years of academic experience since becoming a Senior Lecturer in 1998. His research spans Linguistics, Language Education, and technology-driven pedagogy.

His work focuses on E-Learning innovation and Virtual Reality applications in education, evidenced by leadership of the CLOE Research Unit and projects like DIGITOOLS for e-learning enhancement and VRP4Youth for VR/rapid prototyping integration. These initiatives reflect his commitment to modernizing language education through emerging technologies.

He currently coordinates multiple research grants including DIGITOOLS and VRP4Youth, building on participation in 15+ national/European projects such as:

• Soft Skills Assessment for Teaching Millennials and Gen Z
• ENCARE
• MatActiva
• ENFEM

Through the CLOE Research Unit and CCRVA representation, he drives interdisciplinary collaboration between language studies, business education, and technology development at P.Porto, creating pathways for student involvement in cutting-edge educational tool creation.
